Lorene C. Janowski DPS, OTR/L, BCP, MS, C/NDT is a board certified pediatric occupational therapist and a clinical supervisor at the renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. She works in the pediatric rehabilitation department. Dr. Janowski specializes in working with children with developmental delays, sensory processing disorder, and physical/cognitive disabilities. She also works with children to help improve their fine motor skills as well as their peer/social skills and to meet their full potential. Dr. Janowski is an adjunct professor at NYU’s Steinhardt department of Occupational Therapy where she teaches the fundamentals of pediatric practice.
She is board certified in pediatrics by the American Occupational Therapy Association and is Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) certified. She works at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Additionally, she is SOS trained and is a Certified Kinesiotape Practitioner. She specializes in aquatic therapy as an adjunct to land-based therapy services. Her true dedication is found working with children and their families to improve their overall quality of life and independence particularly children with developmental delays, orthopedic conditions, cerebral palsy, and sensory integration dysfunction.
Dr. Janowski is an adjunct professor at NYU’s Occupational Therapy department teaching master level students the fundamentals of pediatric practice. Lorene also works in the HSS Neurology department, focusing on adult neuro-rehabilitation and has collaborated with one of the lead hand surgeons for surgical intervention for children with hemiparesis.
Lorene’s rehabilitation experience includes working at the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, NYU’s Hospital for Joint Diseases, and the Northwell Health System. Lorene has collaborated internationally with the Children of China Pediatric Foundation educating therapists in a Chinese orphanage. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Scranton and holds a clinical doctorate in Occupational Therapy from New York University.
